The division has long been committed to frontier research in the fields of engineering materials and structural service safety, focusing on the fatigue damage performance and mechanisms, multi-scale fracture behaviors, and reliability assessment of materials under coupled mechanical and environmental conditions. Based on advanced experimental equipments and computational simulation capabilities, the division provides theoretical supports and technical solutions for safe service and reliability evaluation of critical components in engineering fields such as civil engineering, energy equipment, and traffic engineering etc.
Research Areas
1. Fatigue property evaluation and damage mechanism of materials
2. Fracture mechanics of materials
3. Fatigue behaviors of additive manufacturing materials and coatings
4. Mechanical behavior and integrity of engineering structures
Research Highlights
Fatigue deformation and damage mechanisms, fatigue life prediction and optimization, and fatigue reliability assessment based on fatigue testing machines, in which loading capacity varies from 2 kN to 20,000 kN.
Fracture mechanisms and fracture mechanics, especially focusing on multiscale fracture behavior and environmentally assisted cracking.
Fatigue behaviors of additive manufacturing materials and coatings, including correlation between defect sensitivity and fatigue property, effect of processing parameters on fatigue property, and effect of laser cladding coating on fatigue behaviors.
